Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer

SCEI-HE recognises that students may bring valuable prior learning or professional experience to their studies. Through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer process, eligible students may receive credit towards their qualification, reducing both the duration and cost of study.

What is Credit Transfer?

Credit Transfer is the formal recognition of previously completed studies at another institution. This applies when you have already completed units of competency or subjects that are equivalent to those in your SCEI-HE course. Supporting documents typically include:

  • Certified academic transcripts
  • Course or unit outlines

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

RPL recognises skills and knowledge gained through informal or non-formal learning such as:

  • Work or industry experience
  • Volunteering
  • Professional development or training
  • Community involvement

Students must provide a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate how their learning aligns with the learning outcomes of the relevant unit(s) and AQF level.

Who Can Apply?

All current and prospective domestic and international students may apply for credit transfer and/or RPL. International students must maintain a full-time study load and are advised that credit approvals may impact their Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and student visa conditions.
